VP Supply Chain
We are searching for a VP Supply Chain who will be overall responsible for leading the strategic sourcing, vendor management and purchasing across the NEL Electrolyser operations.
The VP Supply Chain will ensure best practices and make sure that procurement policies and regulations are adhered to and deployed when executing purchasing strategies for the relevant categories. Continuous improvement thinking is key to succeed in this role, and the person we are looking for will play an important role in shaping and further develop our global supply chain function.
The VP Supply Chain reports to the COO in the Nel Electrolyser division, and will be a member of the COO Management Team. The position will be based in Wallingford, CT.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Core responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Establish a strategic and tactical supply management organization. Collaborate closely with VP of Operations (Norway, USA), Nel Project organization and other relevant internal functions/stakeholders
- Establish a strategic sourcing strategy followed by group strategy, with focus on best total cost, perfect quality and on-time delivery
- Implement supplier selection processes, supplier consolidation, global frame agreements and supplier performance reviews
- Ensure development of category sourcing strategies and structure with a view to the future focus of the businesses, digitalization goals, efficiency improvements and world class metrics/indicators
- Ensure coordination and seek synergies in the sourcing and procurement activities of the various factories/sites
- Ensure a strong and robust supply chain management team in each factory/site; effectively employ the supply management resources to meet operational and business goals
- Everyday coaching: guide, train, support, motivate and develop internal resources
- Develop and deploy processes, policies and tools to improve the efficiency and efficacy of the supply management organization
- Represent Nel externally and build up the network between factories/sites and strategic suppliers
- Identify trends to shape future training and development opportunities to achieve our vision of being a Number One by Nature
- Support Nel policies on HSE and Quality. Set the tone by making safety a top priority, factor it into organizational goals and ensure commitment is clearly visible.
- Develop models for inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management
- Ensure knowledge sharing, best practices, and collaboration across Nel’s global organization
Educational background and professional experience
- Higher education, preferably on Master’s level. CPM Certification a plus
- 15+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in a related operational field such as Manufacturing, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or Logistics
- Experience from Engineering and Manufacturing of complex industrial products
- Experience from and used to navigate in cross-functional international environments
- Proficiency in English is required, both written and spoken, additional languages would be an advantage
- Wide SCM knowledge and technical competence; understanding of MRP systems, Kanban, Drop Shipment, 3PL and JIT concepts
- Excellent project management skills, and proven success with leadership and people & change management
