Process Development Engineer

We are searching for a motivated and skilled Process Development Engineer with a background in surface treatment / electroplating (i.e., nickel plating) to join our operations at Notodden. The role will be a part of the Product and Process Development department – Alkaline Operations and reports to the Director of Electrode Process and Production Development.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Develop, document and disseminate understanding of our chemical processes
• Collect and analyze data to improve product and process performance
• Develop and validate industrial scale manufacturing process using the Nel Process Development Model (NPDM)
• Evaluate and industrialize new chemistry for improved performance
• Support Operations in advanced problem solving

Key qualifications

• MSc / PhD in Chemical / Electrochemical Engineering
• Specialization in wet chemical surface treatment and / or electrochemical deposition processes
• Experience with electroplating surface treatment (i.e., nickel plating)
• Experience with NDT methods, material characterization and laboratory
• Experience from work with advanced product development projects
• Experience with work in multi-cultural environment and in close cooperation with universities, research institutes and agencies
