Project Engineer

Nel Hydrogen is experiencing substantial growth, and we are now searching for a motivated Project Engineer to develop and monitor project schedules.
The person we are looking for will be part of our Research & Development team and will work closely with our Manufacturing and Cell Stack Industrialization team as projects move closer to implementation.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposal or charter and conferring with Technology leadership
- Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and report on project costs and milestones
- Cooperate and communicate plans and solution paths effectively with project manager and other project participants to resolve technical and program challenges and minimize delays
- Lead design and test efforts for a new product development through product release by defining the scope of the design requirements and work packages in consultation with project manager
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure design meets manufacturability requirements and solve complex challenges with supplied components
- Team player, willing to contribute to technical tasks and support related projects within the group.
- Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
- Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons
- Develop and maintain: Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection (QA/QC) Reporting
- Incorporate all processes and procedures that support the project closeout phase
Key Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university
- Minimum of 5 years working in an engineering role with proven working experience as a Project Engineer or Lead Engineer (3-5 years) with focus on technology commercialization projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered
- Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking capabilities
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Project
- Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Preferably experience in device manufacturing processes (e.g. coatings, lamination, automated assembly, etc.)
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.
- Proven track record in managing product development projects from concept phase through industrialization and production.
- Comfortable and proficient with the project management toolbox including management of stakeholder requirements, scope, specifications, WBS, resources, schedule, risk, cost and budget, tracking, and reporting.
- Formulating project parameters and assigning responsibilities to employees and monitoring the project team.
- Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and milestones and reporting on the project's status.
- Confers with appropriate departments, resources, and/or outside services to clarify problems and identify and manage risks
- Reviewing the engineering task progress and initiating the necessary corrective actions.
- Actively document lessons learned and feed back into broader organization
